Maria Zalm is a Senior Editor with the PLOS Publication Ethics team since November 2019. As part of her role, she is responsible for handling publication ethics concerns that have been raised with PLOS submissions and publications, as well as drafting journal policies and raising publication ethics awareness among the broader scientific community.
Maria holds a BSc in Molecular Biology and Genetics, an MSc in Molecular Medicine, and a PhD in Biomolecular Science which focussed on the structural and biochemical properties of periplasmic chaperones in Salmonella in response to envelope stress. Prior to her role at PLOS, Maria held the position of Editor for several BMC Series journals.: Data, Atlas & Simulation
